Congratulations on completing your ride!! It was great meeting you in India while we were on holiday in Goa. We organise and take part in the Birmingham - London Bike Ride every year and we think its great what you have done for Cancer Research.

I am amazed at your journey and determination for such a trip. I offer my congratulations on raising the money for such a good cause. I am hoping to cycle from John ogroats to Landsend for Cancer Research but feel a bit embarassed now and may make it a cycle around Britains coastline. Good luck for the future Thanks Gordon.

Well being a fellow Roylas fan I thought I should let you know that we are currently 6th in the premiership :-D the lads are playing amazingly well and we are all really proud of them for the determination they have shown this year winning or losing - our best result was on new years day, 6-0 to the mighty royals against West Ham :-D and we have now got a replay against Man Utd at the Mad Stad late on in March to get into the quarter finals of the FA cup after drawing 1-1 thanks to Bryn :-D. Its good to have Kitson back after we lost him after the first game of the season. Anyway i'm sure you are keeping up to date but if not just wanted to let you know as if i ever did anything like this i know i would want to be informed especially this season being so special...
Anyway i think its amazing what you two are doing and i hope you enjoy every minute as the scenery and the memories you will have will soon help you forget the pain. Good luck, stay safe x

Hello Richard and Kat, I hope you both have a wonderful Christmas over there in Malaysia and that 2007 is all that you dream it to be and more.

I must admit I had heard stories that you were holed up in a hide-out in Dover feasting on curries whilst being creative with Photoshop. I haven't come up with a theory on how Richard has enhanced his legs / thighs though. Pesky rumour-mongers eh?

I am missing you loads and my thoughts are with you. I really appreciate the e-mails / postcards / diary. It's almost like being there myself - but without the sore bum.

By the way, I've finished at the RPA now. Looks like I'll have to get myself another job!

Well done to both of you, we could not have done it better ouselves! (says Elca). Do you remember Kat when you thought that i had cycled a long way, cycling to Paris and back. I am really impressed with your efforts (especially with 4 panniers each) looking forward to the next episode.

"The teacher taught us a lesson"

Well I was feeling disgusted after getting lost to find a restaurant in Beyoglu so I decided to head back to Akbiyik Caddesi (Backpackers Row in Istanbul) and while I was eating my nasty Iskender kebap with tomato sauce (watery katsup) I happened to meet Rick and Kat. Needless to say I was stunned, enamored and impressed of their devotion to tackle on a challenge this huge. We ended up dining and drinking for 5 hours! In that time this lady from the US who claimed she was teaching in Turkey came up to chill with us and ordered us a round of beers and chips. Now here is where the Turkish technique comes in, she gets up and says she has to go and wishes everyone a safe time. After this we realize that she just left and stiffed us on the bill! This other scottish lady saw the whole and laughed. We had been taught a lesson - how to get fleeced on a bunch of beers and chips! It was right there that I donated 20USD to Richard and Kat. Hi Kat, a bit of GKR stuff to take your mind off cycling. Roy, Lee, Sam, Luke and (would you believe it) Duncan graded last weekend, so they're all Green belts now. We heard that Duncans old orange belt had to be surgically removed, but it's only a rumour.

Visited China in 1990 and 1991 when there were more cycles than cars. Ken Walker visited in 2005 and it was the other way around. A country well worth a visit but do your reading before you go.

Your eyes will be opened ,stay focused ,and alert ,God Speed.

When you get to Beijing you must walk the wall at Badaling.
But you must climb to the left as your legs will be strong enough by then!

You look like a bit of a criminal from your Photo Richard. You could have at least smiled as if you might enjoy the experience!

How is the training going? How many miles per week are you clocking up? Done any rides in rainy\windy weather because this will make a big difference in how long you'll be able to ride comfortably and it's more of a strain!
